David - Internship 2009

I started my internship in 2009 within the Business Management & Operations Division as a Management Executive Consultant whilst studying at ESCP-EAP European School of Management in London.

The internship involved supporting the different divisions of the firm from an internal consultancy perspective, and included working on a number of projects ranging from marketing to strategy or business processes to customer support.

Why did I chose Diagonal for my internship?  Here are my key highlights:

Where the action is...

2009 is one of the most economically challenging years in recent history.  In my first week I attended a meeting with an executive of the firm to analyse Diagonal’s strategic position and consider it’s future direction. I’ve done many business cases, but believe me, you’ll never learn as much as in a real life meeting such as this.

Job done, no matter where...

From day one I had my own laptop and access to the intranet.  I was free to work from the Soho Square office, Farnham office or work from home.  I was able to schedule my meetings with business people via outlook.  My workplace was up to me…….my main duty: doing my job well.

Executive support...

I had permanent support during my three month internship at Diagonal.  But not only this, I usually went with my manager to have a coffee outside the office and talk about the firm, my job, my future or just London’s life.  That’s something I really appreciated because it came from an executive who runs a division, with many years experience who has a MBA from INSEAD.  This is the kind of conversation where you can learn a considerable amount and has been an added bonus to my internship at Diagonal.
