In 2009 I completed a seven week internship working as an Executive Trainee with Diagonal. From day one it was both challenging and exciting.
You can add to the company’s success from the start as you are directly integrated with the Senior Managers in the business. This is a unique working experience where your words count and your actions can contribute to changing strategies. It is a working environment that inspires, motivates and challenges. When you are committed, motivated and curious the rewards are extensive. I found it an exchange of contributing my best in return for being integrated in a fascinating business.
The tasks...
I was given great opportunities to prove my business acumen. These included - business model analysis; developing product strategy; and writing case studies. The tasks varied but they were always challenging. I have attended two client meetings, in the short period I was at Diagonal, which gave me a very good insight into the professional services working world and handling direct contact with clients.
The culture...
At Diagonal it is about sharing knowledge and learning from each other. People are very friendly, helpful and appreciate your contribution to the business. The support by my mentor, Finance and Operations Director Charlotte Mason, was excellent. She always had time for me, shared knowledge and we exchanged ideas whenever possible. Being committed, motivated and curious was the basis to get the most out of my internship at Diagonal.
