The Challenge
To bring transparency and control to complex business processes through a company-wide ERP solution. This would replace a selection of paper-based processes and solutions such as databases and spreadsheets with a standard, integrated way of doing business. Like most construction companies, Mercury operates a complex system of stage payments, retention and contract billing that few ERP solutions are able to manage well.
The Solution
Mercury worked with Diagonal to implement an SAP solution integrated with Diagonal's unique Construction Billing Solution (CBS). Changes were required to both the standard SAP solution and the CBS to facilitate a number of Mercury processes not commonly used in the UK construction industry. The implementation has successfully gone live in Mercury's Ireland offices.
The Benefits
Mercury has instant access to real-time information at any stage of a project. This has led to improved management of project performance, quicker month-end processing, improved cash flow and increased productivity. Information can be input or accessed from a construction site through a laptop and modem, helping ensure that data is kept up to date.
